Karen’s love of floristry bloomed at the tender age of 13 in her Aunt’s flower shop. She spent all her free time there and later worked in ‘Stems’ throughout her school and college years. She studied psychology in college where she received her Bachelors of Science degree. Thereafter she returned to her roots having realised that her interest and passion remained in the floristry business.

Karen’s entrepreneurial spirit, passion for flowers, creative talent and natural flair with people meant she was always destined to go out on her own. In November 2007 she realised her dreams and opened her own flower shop “Fleurtatious”. While her skills have been admired by her customers for years , in 2008 they were acknowledged at industry level when she was awarded the Platinum Award for “Flower Shop of the Year”.

Since opening her shop, Karen often uses her one day off per week for continuous up skilling and training with some of the industry’s most respected florists – Richard Haslam, Joseph Massie, Gregor Lersch, David Ragg, David Denyer, and Pim Van Der Akker. Recently, Karen started to provide in-store workshops for customers which are starting to gather keen interest. Feedback has been very complimentary.
